Creative Conservation Art Class
Kaleidoscope from the Sea
Classes running from April 9th - June 11th please see calendar below for schedule
A note from your teacher!
It is my great joy to offer you a class that is not only fun and engaging, but is also meaningful and helps to preserve and protect our oceans and earth. I look forward to collaborating with you in our shared creative space!
Kaleidoscope from the Sea: the title of our class was inspired by all of the many pieces of plastic floating in the ocean, and that when collected and standing back to observe they appear as if we were looking through a kaleidoscope, vibrant, textured, and unique, just like us. Together we will create mosaics and mandalas with pre-collected and reclaimed plastic marine debris. We will each have 70 small pieces of plastic marine debris to create with. Regardless of zoom class size, you will be a part of 39 other students taking our class, meaning that through all of our art work combined, between all of your artwork and mine, we will be salvaging approximately 3,500 pieces of plastic marine debris that will never to return to the ocean, thanks to your collaborative participation in our creative conservation class. In honor of all of your hard work you and your cohort will be featured in a public art show (location to be determined.) There we will showcase our individual and collective mosaics and mandalas, the power of community collaboration, and ecological restoration and marine conservation through the artistic process. I am very excited to curate our art show!
Please note: no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
